About the Event
The Kalumburu Strong Women’s Centre provides educational and prevention programs to help victims of domestic and family violence, including short term refuge accomodation for these victims within the Kalumburu community. The centre also supports daily art and craft pursuits, jewellery making, gardening, health promotion, beauty and cooking activities for the women of Kalumburu. The centre cooks meals too for community elders and it conducts a monthly young girl’s group. The Centre also works with female artists of Kalumburu. A business has been established to empower and support women artists. The centre assists women to deal with daily challenges and to build Aboriginal cultural ways of knowing within their own Aboriginal knowledge systems.
Arrive at 5.30pm for a 6.00pm sitdown.
