It has achieved excellent outcomes for arresting the extinction of threatened species of birds to date. However, it faces a challenging future.
Today, almost 1 in 6 Australian bird species are threatened with extinction. These species typically can face threats of climate change, bushfire, habitat loss and predation by feral introduced species. Birdlife Australia aims to stop the extinction of birds in Australia by 2032 and improve the status of the 30% of threatened birds by then too. Â Rochelle Steven will speak about these challenges at our upcoming Rotary of Crawley dinner. Â Â
